Has it only been six years? In 2020 we worked on our first project for Neiter Creative: a set of super simple but striking business cards for their client, NOVO, a Nashville design + build firm. Since that first job we’ve collaborated with Neiter on over 90 projects (!) — holiday cards, product tags, magazine sleeves, presentation folders, and more than anything else, business cards. In this post I’ll feature just a few favorites that capture Neiter’s minimalistic, powerful, but approachable aesthetic.

Novo

As with most of the pieces you’ll see in this post, Neiter Creative designed this as a duplexed card — two separate sheets of card stock letterpress printed first, then glued together, and then trimmed. That means the front and back can be printed on different stocks, and it also means there’s no hint of letterpress impression show-through on the opposite side of the card.

KATIE DAVIS DESIGN

Another hallmark of Neiter’s business card design: European sizing. Notice that the ratio is a little more stout than an American card. To me this ratio feels more balanced, especially in a vertical orientation.

Kara Adam Interiors

Such a great paper color combo for this duplexed card: teal and navy stocks, both made by German paper mill Gmund. For the Kara Adam logo we used matte pigment foil instead of letterpress ink which gives a super opaque almost chalky look to the impression.

This card for Nicole Zarr is duplexed with two layers of the same stock so that we’re not seeing any impression show-through and the impressions aren’t flattening each other.

Oversized letterpress wedding invitations for Kiera and Patrick’s fall wedding in NYC. We pressed tined white and black inks on thick 600g Lettra paper. Blind letterpress is an option here too, but the tint really helps the detail pop on the paper.

Beautifully designed business cards by Sophia Studio. Honored to help execute the vision with white foil on Colorplan Stone paper for the front, off-black letterpress ink on Fluorescent White Lettra paper for the back.

White foil on colored paper is such a great choice when you want reversed text. Opaque white letterpress ink doesn’t tend to print crisply and it’s not totally opaque. And printing a color flood background with knocked out text can look uneven and can lead to scuffing. White foil prints crisply and has near 100% opacity.

Embossed and duplexed business cards for Portland’s Wildwood House!

If you’re printing a two-sided business card and you don’t want to see the reverse of your embossed image on the back of the piece, we can duplex two sheets after embossing to hide the embossing. For this set, we embossed 350g Colorplan Pistachio, printed black letterpress on 300g Lettra Fluorescent White, glued the two together, and then die-cut to finish the card.

It’s also a good idea to die-cut an embossed & duplexed card rather than trim it on a standard guillotine cutter. That way the emboss doesn’t get mashed by the cutter clamp.

Beautifully simple business cards for Hime Hiko. We printed these with our Midnight and Fire Truck inks on 300g Fluorescent White Lettra. Design work by Montréal firm Sept L'atelier.

As we were moving Parklife Press from North Carolina out to Oregon last summer, Ivy and John were bringing their Chapel Hill furniture studio into full swing. We're no longer in the same town, but that doesn't mean we can't still work together. 

We printed note cards and business cards with custom inks on 300g Fluorescent White Lettra paper with die cut corners and matching A6 envelopes.  A nice complement to P&P's simple aesthetic.
